Shooting in USA: gun used by student to kill 3 people was bought by his father last week

The weapon that was used this Tuesday in a shooting at an institute of USA that ended with three fatalities and eight wounded was bought four days ago by the suspect’s father, a 15-year-old student from that center.

That explained in a press conference the sheriff of the county of Oakland (Michigan), Michael Bouchard, in which the official did not identify the suspect for being a minor or the victims of the Oxford High School shooting “Out of respect for the families.”

The suspect was admitted to a juvenile center on Tuesday after being detained by the authorities and he is under intensive surveillance every 15 minutes to prevent suicide.

According to Bouchard’s account, the 15-year-old student entered Oxford High School with the gun in his backpack and went to the bathroom.

Shortly after, he came out with a 9mm Sig Sauer pistol in hand and began shooting different students near the bathroom.

The three fatalities, a 16-year-old boy and two 14 and 17-year-old girls, were students at that institute, which has about 1,800 students.

Seven other students, two of whom are admitted in critical condition with gunshot wounds to the chest, and a teacher were injured, according to Bouchard.

In his press appearance, which could be followed on social networks, the sheriff said that the event lasted only a few minutes when the agents arrived before the alert calls that there was a shooter in the institute.

In a few minutes, “between two and three” according to the police representative, the agents managed to reduce and arrest the boy, who nevertheless had already shot several people.

The shooter was not injured and “surrendered without problems,” without saying anything to officers, according to Bouchard.
