14-year-old girl dies after being shot by her 13-year-old brother while selling a homemade gun

A 14-year-old girl from Georgia, USA, died when his younger brother tried to sell a homemade gun, and shot people who took the gun without paying, a sheriff said.

The shot hit Kyra Scott and she died when her mother tried to take her to a hospital, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.

County sheriff Douglas, Tim Pounds, said that the brother of Kyra 13-year-old and the man allegedly trying to buy a homemade gun, 19-year-old Yusef McArthur El, were arrested Monday and charged with murder. McArthur El is also charged with theft and sudden rapture. The two were denied bail Tuesday. The sheriff said they did not have attorneys yet.

El McArthur was being held in the Douglas County Jail and the 13-year-old in a juvenile detention center.

Pounds said the boy had ordered online all the parts he needed to make weapons, including semi-automatic weapons, and that he had been selling them. On Saturday, two people came to a Douglasville home to buy one of his guns and fled without paying, Pounds said.

“According to the investigation, he was shooting at the people who took his weapon”, dijo Pounds. “But instead, he shot his sister. And it’s so sad that his sister’s death happened. “

Someone in the home called 911 after they shot Kyra and her mother decided to take her to a hospital. Police said Kyra died before she could get help.

Pounds said “ghost weapons” are of particular concern to law enforcement because they do not have serial numbers and cannot be traced.

Lt. Jon Mauney said the investigation is continuing and additional charges may be filed. Detectives are hoping to know how many guns the 13-year-old made and whether other people in the home knew about them, Mauney said.

Kyra was a student at Chapel Hill High School. He had previously attended Lithia Springs High School, Mauney said.

“Kyra Scott, by all accounts, was a beautiful and kind soul, and nothing done in this case will bring her back.”said District Attorney Dalia Racine. “The cost of losing our children is simply too high a price to pay.”
