Argentina approves Russian single-dose Sputnik Light vaccine against coronavirus

Argentina approved the Russian single-dose vaccine against coronavirus covid-19, Sputnik Light, announced this Monday the Russian Direct Investment Fund (FIDR), in charge of distributing the drug.

According to a statement from the FIDR, the Russian preparation was approved as “Stand-alone vaccine and booster dose” against him coronavirus.

The Russian fund recalled that Argentina was last year one of the first countries to register the Russian vaccine Spuntik V, which today has received the approval of more than 70 nations.

The FIDR emphasizes that the studies carried out with Sputnik Light around the world they have proven their safety and high efficacy.

In particular, the vaccine has shown an efficacy of between 78.6% and 83.7% in the elderly, according to Argentine health sources.

Furthermore, a study in Argentina on the combination of the single dose Sputnik Light with the vaccines produced by AstraZeneca, Sinopharm, Moderna and Cansino has shown that the Russian drug can effectively boost immunity after previous injections.

The data also support a high safety profile of Sputnik Light in combinations with all other vaccines with no serious adverse effects after injection in any combination.

The studies are based on analyzes of combinations of five different vaccines, says the FIDR.
