  • Jury recommends the death penalty for Markeith Loyd for the murder of a police officer who tried to arrest him in the US.

In a press release, authorities said that David Neal Cox “I felt a deep remorse and wanted to close” the case for the family of Felicia Cox.

Weddle did not reveal the location he provided Coxbut said it’s in Pontotoc county, Mississippi, where Felicia Cox was last seen. He said investigators are preparing to begin recovery efforts for his remains. Experts in archeology and anthropology from Mississippi State University are available to help if the remains are found, Weddle said.

“We would like to emphasize that the location of the remains of Felicia Cox it is not a foregone conclusion “added the district attorney. “We are hopeful that the information is accurate and that the recovery efforts are successful so that Felicia’s family can give her a proper burial.”

The daughter of Felicia Cox, Amber Miskelly, was present at the press conference, standing next to her husband. He was silent as Weddle spoke, but wiped away his tears. Miskelly had just turned 18 when her mother disappeared.

Felicia Cox, then 40, was last seen in July 2007 visiting Kim Kirk Cox, in Pontotoc. Kim Kirk Cox, who was married to David Neal Cox, was murdered by him in May 2010, the crime for which he was executed.

David Neal Cox, 50, was the first prisoner to be executed in Mississippi in nine years. Before his execution, he dropped all appeals and submitted court documents calling himself “worthy of death.”

Cox pleaded guilty in 2012 to capital murder in the shooting death of Kim Kirk Cox in May 2010. He also pleaded guilty to several other charges, including sexual assault. A jury passed the death sentence.

Weddle said Cox made the disclosure about his sister-in-law to his attorneys in late October and waived his attorney-client privilege after her death. The information was presented to Weddle’s office two days after Cox’s execution, the district attorney said.
