“Everyone at this table has contributed $ 100 for you and the other servers. (…) In total we will give you $ 4,400 ”, Wise announced to the mesera Ryan Brandt, who could not contain the emotion and began to cry.

Why was she fired?

“I don’t fully understand why that would happen to such a sweet and caring woman.”Wise said in an Instagram post.

Despite having worked for more than three years at the site, Brandt it was fired immediately.

“They told me that I should give the money to my boss and that they would only give me 20 percent”, commented Brandt, in conversation with the Fox network.

He said, had to hand over the money to the restaurant owners because they supposedly wanted to share it with all employees. Something that did not completely convince the worker, because from the beginning they agreed to distribute it among the waiters who served Wise and her colleagues.

She had been excited about the sum of money because she had already thought about paying the installments of some loans that had been delayed by the pandemic.

“The payments will return in January and it is a harsh reality”, assured.

The restaurant’s pronouncement

Oven and Tap It has not provided further details on the situation. He only issued a brief statement, for the aforementioned chain, in which he assured that the waitress “She was not fired for withholding the tip.”

In addition, they maintain that they gave him $ 2,200.

When it comes to large parties, depending on the restaurant’s tipping policy, the owners decide how they handle or distribute the money.

“Due to the privacy and respect of our employees, we will not discuss the matter”they said in their letter.

However, in the last hours, the waitress’s lawyers told “The Washington Post” that her former bosses had threatened to sue her for damaging the reputation of the business in the face of the controversy.

Meanwhile, entrepreneur Grant Wise launched a campaign on the GoFundMe platform in order to collect money on behalf of Brand. At the moment, 520 people have donated 15 thousand dollars.
