The pandemic, which had its most serious peak between last March and June and forced 90% of the population to be confined once again, has been under control for more than three months, although with slight rebounds linked to the high mobility at the end of the year.

From the Ministry of Health, however, they indicated their “concern” about the advance of the Omicron variant, which has been detected in 11 of the 16 regions of the country and of which 248 cases have already been confirmed.

In the last 24 hours, 760 cases and 22 deaths were registered, which leaves the total balance since March 2020 at 1.8 million infected and 39,056 deaths.

The Department of Health Statistics and Information (DEIS) of the ministry reported this Monday, however, that the total balance amounts to more than 50,000 deaths if the suspected cases are added.
