The epidemiological information bulletin issued by the Ministry of Health reported 81,210 new cases in the last 24 hours, which brings to 5,820,536 the total number of people who have suffered the disease so far in Argentina, of which 332,806 continue to attend the infectious picture.

This situation occurs in coincidence with the circulation of thousands of people who continue their summer vacations and have spent the festivities traveling through the country, where except for the province of Córdoba (center) – which until today has banned mass events and dance venues – generally there are hardly any restrictions.

On this day, the previous historical mark of 50,506 infections that had been registered on December 30, when the peak of the second wave of COVID-19 had occurred in the country, was surpassed.

Likewise, 49 people died from the virus this Tuesday, well below the record of 792 daily deaths registered on June 22, in addition to the total number of fatalities left by the virus is 117,294.

On the other hand, the health report indicated that 154,853 tests were carried out on this day to detect the disease throughout the national territory.

Currently, 1,218 people with COVID-19 are hospitalized in intensive care units and the occupancy level is at 35.9%, while in Buenos Aires and its periphery it is at 36.7% of its capacity.

VACCINATION AND NEW MEASURES

Since a year ago, the first batches of vaccines arrived in Argentina, which with about 45 million inhabitants, 38,272,739 people have started their vaccination scheme, and 32,960,671 completed it, while 2,616,891 have an additional dose and 3,356 .878 the reinforcement.

Although, last October, the Argentine government relaxed most of the current restrictions that included the opening of borders, the cases began to rise in November with a particularly accelerated rate last month, giving rise to the “third wave” of coronavirus.

However, as of January 1 of this year, the use of the health pass began to govern, which will require proof of complete vaccination schedules to be able to attend activities considered to be of “epidemiological risk”, such as mass events outdoors or in closed spaces.

In accordance with the latest provision of the Government, any person who wishes to enter the country must carry out tests due to the increase in cases of the omicron variant.

“From the proliferation of omicron, a variant with an increased risk of transmission and reinfection compared to those that circulated previously, a diagnostic test is required to enter Argentina,” they indicated in an official statement.
