Mexico exceeds 300,000 deaths from coronavirus

Mexico this Friday surpassed the 300,000 confirmed deaths of covid-19, adding 168 in the last 24 hours and reaching 300,101 deaths since the start of the pandemic, reported the Ministry of Health (SSa).

With these data, the country remains the fifth in the world with the most deaths from covid-19, behind the United States, Brazil, India and Russia, according to the Johns Hopkins University count.

In addition, the country added 28,023 new infections, bringing it to a total of 4,083,118 and remains the sixteenth country in the world in number of confirmed infections.

The number of reported infections is the second highest number of confirmed cases in a day since August 18, 2021 when 28,953 new cases were registered, the same day in which it reached the highest number of deaths in the third wave, with 940, with which Mexico exceeded 250,000 deaths.

This Friday’s figure exceeded the maximum peaks of the first (9,866) and second wave (22,339).

The average occupancy of general beds in Mexican hospitals stands at 19% and the use of intensive care beds at 12%.
