Víctor Escobar, the first euthanasia case in Colombia, had as his last wish to donate his organs

At his farewell, last Friday, before heading to the clinic of Cali where he was euthanized, the caleño Victor Escobar Prado He affirmed that he loved his family and was very fond of all those who helped him in his struggle to access a dignified death.

Those expressions of love extended to the place from where he left this world and left behind the rigors of his many illnesses. He told the medical and nursing staff that he wanted to donate the organs that were functional.

It should be remembered that as a consequence of two cardio-vascular accidents (CVA), Escobar suffered from left hemiparesis (a neurological condition that hinders the movement of one half of the body), four years ago he suffered a chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), which prostrated him . He also had diabetes and hypertension.

His medical history also includes a thrombosis (a blood clot in one or more deep veins in the body), he had the right side of his heart larger, and he underwent four surgeries on his spine due to a serious traffic accident.

Before passing away, Escobar was surrounded by his children and wife. He ate potato chips and a juice box before being sedated.

His family and medical staff said goodbye to him with applause and told him that he was a warrior.

The lifeless body of Víctor Escobar still remains this Saturday in the clinic where he died while waiting for the COVID-19 protocol to be complied with. Then you will be transferred to a funeral home to prepare you for your last goodbye.

His family hopes to see him at home today and tomorrow will be his funeral. It will be cremated.
