Bank threatens to lay off unvaccinated employees

The American bank Citigroup sent an email to its employees on Friday explaining that they will be dismissed without compensation if they are not vaccinated against Covid-19. All have until January 14 to regularize their situation. This would represent 10% of the company’s workforce, or 16,000 employees, explains BFMTV. The bank nevertheless indicated that the situations would all be examined with exemptions for medical or religious reasons.

Warned at the end of October

The employees of the group had already been warned of such a measure at the end of October, specifies the site The echoes. President Biden’s administration then requested that all employees of companies working with it be vaccinated.

Citygroup, however, anticipated the compulsory vaccination bill imposed on companies with more than 100 employees. The text was blocked by several legal actions. The decision is now in the hands of the Supreme Court.

Citigroup is not the first company to act in this way: the airline company United Airlines separated a few months ago from 200 employees who had refused the vaccine the vaccine against the Covid-19.
