“He is going to fall”: the doctor who anticipated the tragedy in the lake of Brazil 10 years ago

“That stone is going to fall”, wrote Flávio Freitas on March 13, 2012 on your account Facebook. In the image of the post, you can see the same area in which the tragedy occurred last Saturday that left 10 people dead, more than 30 injured and several missing, whose search continues on the part of the Brazilian security forces.

After the repercussion of that publication, the doctor felt the need to record a video that uploaded so much to his Facebook as to his Instagram to explain his prediction.

In fact, the 52-year-old recalled how his 2012 photo was produced, but also made it clear that he did not want to make the news for his observation in a case involving fatalities. “My role is to save lives, not to brag about the dead”, he clarified.

Also, Freitas said in a statement with the local media mail: “When I found out about the accident, I went to my album and saw the photo. At that moment, that crack there caught my attention, because It was very big and I wrote that it was going to fall. It was clean as it was very long and wide. The possibility of falling sooner or later was great ”.

And added that it was not a premonition, or anything related to a mystical reaction on his part. “Certainly, it was a geological fault that had the risk of imminent collapse. It took almost 10 years for it to happen”, He concluded.

A series of videos posted on social media show the exact moment when the rock column crashed into the water. As you can hear in a video shared by the president Jair Bolsonaro, from a further boat, a group of tourists tried to warn the boats that were closer to the accident site. “Get out of there,” they repeated.

“Many stones are falling!”, a woman said in another of the videos. “That block is coming off!”, a man commented, already in a tone of despair. Then when they noticed another movement in the rock, people started yelling for the boats that were near the canyon to move away. Due to the distance, they were not heard. “That piece over there will fall off! Get out of there!”, they insisted.

In the last seconds of the video you can see from a new angle the fall of the gigantic stone slab into the water, and the impact it causes, which covers everything. At least one of the boats hit was completely sunk, and others escaped at high speed.
