The exchange rate in Mexico traded lower on Wednesday, amid a decline in Treasury bond yields and a weaker dollar ahead of US inflation data and local monetary policy announcement.

Analysts mentioned that, if there are no surprises, the data on inflation in the United States, due on Thursday, should reinforce expectations that the Fed will raise interest rates next month.

Also, depending on whether or not it beats market expectations, speculation about the number of times the cost of money might adjust will rise or fall.

At the local level, the statistics institute reported that headline inflation moderated in January, although the underlying variable accelerated to its highest level in more than 20 years, which reinforces expectations that the central bank would rise for the sixth consecutive time the benchmark interest rate.
