The price of the US dollar in Colombia operated this Monday amid the strong advance in the global markets of the US currency, which became a haven for investors concerned about the impact of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

Stock markets in the region closed mixed last week amid gains in commodities and oil as investors worried about the escalation of the war in Ukraine after Russia seized a nuclear plant.

Wall Street, the region’s main stock benchmark, closed lower as the war in Ukraine overshadowed an acceleration in US job growth last month, which pointed to the strength of the economy.

Meanwhile, the benchmark index of the Colombian stock market, the MSCI COLCAP, rose 0.50% to 1,542.13 points, driven by leading shares in the energy and financial sectors the previous day.
