Dollar in Peru: what is the exchange rate today, Wednesday, April 20

The price of the US dollar in Peru was trading lower in the informal or parallel market today, Wednesday, April 20, 2022. The exchange rate fell to S/ 3,700 for purchase and S/ 3,730 for sale, according to exchange houses in Lima.

On the other hand, in the interbank market, the greenback closed at S/ 3,709, according to data provided by the Central Reserve Bank of Peru (BCR).

The monetary entity detailed that the dollar has a decline of 7.07% so far in 2022, compared to the result recorded at the end of last year (S / 3,991).

The foreign currency registered an appreciation of 10.28% at the end of 2021 due to the impact of political uncertainty and doubts about the economic outlook due to the new variants of the coronavirus.

At the regional level, Latin American currencies fell on Tuesday while stock markets closed unevenly, amid a negative outlook for the world economy after a report from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) lowered its growth expectations.

The IMF on Tuesday cut its global economic growth forecast by nearly a percentage point due to Russia’s war in Ukraine, warning that inflation is now a “clear and obvious danger” for many countries.

The war is expected to slow growth and further increase inflation, the IMF said in its “World Economic Outlook”, while warning that its forecast was marked by “unusually high uncertainty”.
