The dollar price US currency in Colombia is trading lower this Wednesday, after the results of the first round of the presidential elections, which put Rodolfo Hernández and Gustavo Petro in dispute.
The price of the dollar in Colombia for this Wednesday, June 1, 2022 is 3.77 Colombian pesos, according to data from Bloomberg.
The markets reacted to the surprise that the independent businessman Rodolfo Hernández won a quota to dispute the presidency in a ballot on June 19 against the favorite in the polls, the leftist Gustavo Petro.
Petro, candidate of the coalition Historical Pact, which proposes deep economic and social changes to end poverty, obtained 40.3% of the votes.
Businessman Hernández, with his strong speech against corruption and leaning towards the free market, won 28.1% of the votes and surpassed the second in the polls, the center-right Federico Gutiérrez, who after his defeat announced his support for him.
On the other hand, risk aversion decreased after Shanghai announced the end of the confinement by COVID-19, which lasted two months, which will allow the inhabitants of the largest Chinese city to leave their homes.
In 2021, the US dollar was exchanged at a maximum of 4,033.25 Colombian pesos, while its lowest level was 3,412.80.
