The foreign currency registered an appreciation of 10.28% at the end of 2021 due to the impact of political uncertainty and doubts about the economic outlook due to the new variants of the coronavirus.

At the regional level, most Latin American currencies and stock markets posted losses at the end of Wednesday, amid greater aversion to risk assets and concerns about weak global growth due to central bank adjustments and negative prospects for the economy.

According to Reuters, the war in Ukraine has made growth prospects much bleaker, although the global economy should avoid a 1970s-style bout of stagflation, the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development said on Wednesday. , cutting its growth forecasts and raising its inflation estimates.

The world economy will grow 3% this year, far less than the 4.5% projected when the OECD last updated its forecasts in December. The expansion will slow further next year, slowing to 2.8% from the previous forecast of 3.2%, the Paris-based political forum says in its latest Economic Outlook.
