“Emergency food aid” could soon be paid to the most modest people in France, confirmed government spokeswoman Olivia Grégoire. “We want to provide an emergency food allowance of 100 euros per household and 50 euros per child for 9 million people,” she said in detail.
“We are also working on a more qualitative food check to access organic, fresh and local products,” she added. These measures are part of the purchasing power bill, which must be presented on July 6 in the Council of Ministers, before being voted on in Parliament.
25 billion euros more
“We have already committed 25 billion euros since October to these support measures for the French and we will put roughly the same amount in the coming months”, underlined Olivia Grégoire, also saying that she hoped the implementation put in place “at the start of the school year a specific device for heavy rollers who are obliged to take their car to go to work”. The government had already announced to extend at least until the end of August the fuel discount of 18 cents (in mainland France), introduced since April 1.
“While inflation is galloping, we must not go at a trot on these subjects and we hope that the opposition will follow us”, enjoined Olivia Grégoire. “We are coming to the peak of inflation. The good news is that it should then go down, probably towards the end of the year and the beginning of next year”.
