Private members unite to “resurrect” the Bordeaux-Lyon train line

If the current gasoline shortage is pushing communities to promote rail transport, the Railcoop company has been working on it for months trying to “resurrect” a missing link: “Our train will recreate the Bordeaux-Lyon rail link via the Massif Central , Limoges and Montluçon,” explains Nicolas Debaisieux, Managing Director of Railcoop.

“The Bordeaux-Lyon link will contribute to the ecological transition”

Railcoop has a dual objective: “The link obeys ecological imperatives – the Bordeaux-Lyon air link being the first radial link in France, in terms of the number of passengers –, but also for economic reasons because we will pass through the Creuse, the Dordogne, the Allier, therefore ensuring that these intermediate territories are reconnected”.

The connection of this cooperative society of collective interest will be the first French “cooperative train” and aims to contribute to the ecological transition. Faced with the climate emergency, the reopening of the network of these interregional lines should indeed make it possible to reduce the impact of mobility on the environment. The materials used are also intended to be more “eco-virtuous” since they are “old recycled oars which can still last around twenty years”, specifies Nicolas Debaisieux.
