Maduro increases “bonuses” for workers to US$130, with no impact on salaries

Maduro blamed the “economic war”of the loss of purchasing power in salaries, which reached 384 dollars in 2008, under the government of then president Hugo Chavez.

The new increase is part of a “bonus policy” rejected by workers, NGOs and opponents, which led, according to unionists, to “Lost yourself”the salary, the basis for calculating labor benefits such as benefits and vacations and for other public sector remunerations.

This Wednesday, hundreds of workers mobilized in Caracas and several regions to demand, among other requirements, a minimum wage equivalent to the cost of a basic food basket, exceeding US$550 per month for a family of five, according to independent estimates.
