Employment and Disability: Making Life Easier at Home and at Work

Laure de la Bretèche first of all recalls that the inclusion of disability “enriches the investment strategy of the Caisse des Dépôts group in all areas, such as transport or housing.” As an employer, it has also entered into a new, very active agreement in terms of hiring, job retention, support and disability awareness, with a focus on invisible disabilities. Finally, he is involved in actions towards the general public and companies.

What is the first evaluation of the My Handicap course launched two years ago?

This digital platform, developed jointly with the National Solidarity Fund for Autonomy, aims to become a single point of access to information and services for people with disabilities and their families. Let’s go brick by brick. There are documents related to employment, training, education, including higher education. We have reached over 2 million annual online visits.

The next steps will be devoted to technical tools that make life easier at home and at work. In addition, we are going to address intimate and affective life, sexuality and parental support in order to meet the demands of the public.

Finally, we continue to develop support for administrative simplification. We are optimizing access to the teleservices of the Departmental Centers for People with Disabilities (MDPH) and the Social Rights Portal.

You also play an important role in dealing with companies…

The period will be challenging for startups, with growth slowing and investment falling. In these cases, sectors such as disability are particularly affected. Our goal is that the participants in innovation can continue to carry out their projects. We must make their lives easier so they can access funding and assistance. It is also in the interests of the largest groups that could take advantage of these innovations and accelerate their availability to the general public.

Are you already at the stage of concrete measures?

The year started with a meeting called “Unity is Strength” that we organized between network professionals (Red Cross, APF France Handicap, Agefiph, etc.) with group organizations (notably Banque des Territoires and BPI). This allowed us to launch an “online” event, both a quick meeting and a fun moment, with over 200 attendees. Eleven major companies such as Renault, Air France, Total, La Poste, etc. have made purchases from digital accessibility, catering or urban mobility start-ups. The participants wanted to form a network. The next step is to create a website that is accessible to people with disabilities. This will allow startups to connect and access help and opportunities, public or private.
