Price of the dollar in Peru: What is the exchange rate for today, Monday, December 5

The price of the US dollar in Peru is trading higher on Monday, after the head of the world’s most influential central bank, Jerome Powell, signaled last week that the frantic pace of US interest rate hikes this year could be about to slow down.

The exchange rate operates at S/ 3,837 per dollar with an advance of 0.25% compared to the closing of the last day, according to the Bloomberg agency.

So far this year, the greenback accumulates a decline of 0.95% compared to the last price of 2021, at S / 3,991.

On the other hand, in the parallel market or the main exchange houses, the dollar is bought at S/ 3.82 and sold at S/ 3.85, according to data from the portal cuantoestaeldolar.pe.

Optimism was rampant in European markets, after the head of the world’s most influential central bank, Jerome Powell, signaled that the frantic pace of US interest rate hikes this year may be about to slow.

As is known, Fed Chairman Powell said on Wednesday that the US central bank could slow the pace of interest rate hikes from the recent 75 basis points “as soon as December”, although he warned that the fight against inflation was far from over.

“It makes sense to moderate the pace of our rate hikes as we get closer to the level of containment that will be enough to reduce inflation”Powell said in comments that sent Wall Street’s S&P 500 up 3%.
