Inflation: “The peak has not yet been passed,” admits Bruno Le Maire.

The announcement is not comforting to the wallets of the French. France Inter’s guest Bruno Le Maire on Monday morning said the peak of inflation was “not over yet”. “This will continue for several more months, and will continue to increase,” the Minister of Economy admitted.

Still wanting to give a “perspective” to the French, he assured that the “ebb” should occur “during 2023”. As proof, Bruno Le Maire wants to see the key to the “fall” that begins with “commodity prices”.

Prices can still rise

In response to a more specific question about food inflation, the minister confirmed that it is now in the “double digits.” “It could grow even more in the coming weeks,” he warned. However, the minister recalled that France was the Eurozone country with the lowest inflation rate.

Bruno Le Maire, of course, returned to another problem for the French: the risk of blackouts. At the same time, he recalled, back in France Inter, that the government’s goal was to “do everything so that they would not be this winter.” A goal that depends on “all of us, with the reduction of our energy consumption”. “We can avoid cuts this winter,” he said optimistically. According to the minister, on Monday morning, 37 nuclear reactors are operating throughout the territory, “we are moving in the right direction.”
