SNCF Tickets: It is on this Wednesday that you should book your tickets for the April and May bridges.

Telescoping calendars is not the best. At a time when users are worried about future strikes at SNCF and the impact on traffic amid the pension reform, the railway company is selling several thousand tickets for bridges in April and May as of this Wednesday, January 25th.

This year, Workers’ Day, May 1, and the World War II Armistice, May 8, fall on a Monday, which will inevitably spark greed and a desire to go somewhere else. This opening for bookings is all the more interesting as the trains are likely to be crowded and not always enough tickets at this time, as the Easter school holidays in Zone C (Île de France and Occitania) are from April 22 to May 9 include May 1st and 8th.

The best tickets will go to those travelers who arrive there early, in accordance with the now known principle of yield management. The fare system is governed by supply and demand: as the departure date approaches, ticket prices rise. As SNCF reminds us, there are many benefits to buying tickets in advance. Travelers are guaranteed the best prices, the most convenient schedule, and “travel together when you’re in a group.”

All main lines are involved

These sales come after the 5% average price increase applied by SNCF since January 10th. Price spikes could exceed that 5%, depending on the most requested routes and dates… like the famous May weekend. This increase, accepted by the transport company, is intended to amortize additional energy costs in 2023, which are estimated at 13%. The only guarantee is that Avantage cardholders (€49 per purchase) will always enjoy distance-limited prices of €39, €59 and €79 on iNOUI and Intercités TGV trains.

In detail, which routes are open for booking? All connections by TGV Inoui and Intercités until 31 May and Ouigo until 7 July. TER transport will also be activated over the next three, four or five months, depending on the region.

But these proposals are not limited to Franco-French lines. The sale also covers TGV Inoui to Brussels for the next four months, and TGV to Spain, Germany (DB-SNCF), Switzerland (Lyria) and Italy for the next six months, including the start of July.

If you want to travel in the next four months to Belgium, the Netherlands or Germany, tickets will be sold through the Thalys network.
