Wall Street opens on mixed ground and the Dow Jones falls a slight 0.04%

Wall Street opened this Tuesday on mixed ground and the Dow Jones Industrials, its main indicator, fell a slight 0.04%, as investors analyze the latest business results.

Fifteen minutes after the start of operations at the NYSEthe Dow Jones stood at 34,450 units and the selective S&P 500 added 0.24%, up to 4,410 points.

For its part, the composite index of the Nasdaq market, in which the main technology companies are listed, rose 0.45%, to 13,558 integers.

Before the opening of the floor, Lowe’s and Macy’s published their business results, but the company most affected by their results was Dick’s sporting goods company, which fell 24.29%, after announcing a cut in its profits for the year due to to an increase in retail theft and slow sales.

Investors have their eyes on the results of the technology company Nvidia, which will be published on Wednesday.

Also, on Friday morning Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell will address the central bank’s annual symposium in Jackson Hole, Wyoming.

By sectors, green reigned, the main gains were for non-essential goods and communications, with increases of 0.53% and 0.46%, respectively, while the greatest losses were for essential goods and that of public services, which fell by 0.36% and 0.25%, respectively.

Among the 30 Dow Jones stocks, the biggest losses were for Nike (-0.79%) and Merck (-0.63%), while the biggest gains were for Microsoft (0.74%) and Boeing (0.74 %).
