Wall Street opened this Wednesday in green and the Dow Jones Industrial Average, its main indicator, rose 0.33%.

Ten minutes after the start of operations on the New York Stock Exchange, the Dow Jones stood at 33,851 units and the selective S&P 500 added 0.41%, up to 4,376 points.

For its part, the Nasdaq market composite index, in which the main technology companies are listed, increased 0.75%, up to 13,664 integers.

Early in the morning, the oil company ExxonMobil (-3.42%), the largest in the US, announced the purchase of Pioneer (0.92%) Natural Resources through an all-stock operation valued at 59.5 billion dollars, equivalent to 253 dollars per title.

This transaction is the group’s largest since the merger of Exxon and Mobil in 1999 and is expected to close in the first half of 2024, as it will now undergo regulatory approvals and the approval of Pioneer shareholders.

It was also announced today that the Producer Price Index rose 0.5% in September, beating the Dow Jones estimate of a 0.3% increase.

However, although the figure was slightly higher than what economists expected, the data represented a slowdown compared to the increase in producer prices of 0.7% in the previous month.

In addition, investors also have their eyes on the release of the minutes of the September monetary policy meeting of the United States Federal Reserve (Fed), which will be published today, for further clues on future monetary policy decisions. interest rates.

By sector, the greatest losses were for energy and healthcare, which fell by 1.52% and 0.42%, respectively, while the greatest gains were for real estate and communications, which rose by 1.15%. % and 0.99%.

Among the 30 Dow Jones stocks, the biggest losses were for Chevron (-2.32%) and Coca-Cola (-1.3%), while the biggest gains were for Wallgreens (3.22%) and Boeing (1 .89%).
