Lingerie brand Maison Lejaby is in receivership

A new ready-to-wear brand reveals its financial struggles. As we learned from regular sources this Wednesday, the lingerie designer Maison Lejaby was held administratively liable by the commercial court of Lyon on Tuesday.

According to the unions, Maison Lejaby, headquartered in Rillier-la-Pape (Rhone), is a lingerie brand that currently employs 55 employees, including 30 people in charge of sales, and has two stores in Paris and Lyon . The brand also has corners in Galeries Lafayette and Bon Marché.

Debt incurred during Covid

“In order to preserve its future operations, faced with operational debt, which arose mainly during the Covid period, Maison Lejaby has applied to the commercial court to initiate receivership,” said Thierry Le Guenic, head of Maison Lejaby, in an internal press release.

In the coming months, “during normal operations,” the majority shareholder “obliges to provide financial support,” the same press release clarifies.

This period “provides an opportunity for Maison Lejaby and its employees to accelerate the transformation undertaken in the direction of moving into the luxury market, expanding its international presence and going digital.”

For its part, the Commercial Court of Lyon confirmed that the judicial collection procedure was opened with a six-month observation period.

There are no job cuts at this stage

According to Olivier David, secretary of the CSE (socio-economic committee) and representative of CFDT Maison Lejaby, “there are no job cuts announced at this time.” “However, we remain vigilant on issues of jobs and wages,” he added.

Entrepreneur-investor Thierry Le Guenique also acquired the Habitat brand in 2020, which was in compulsory liquidation on December 28, 2023, as well as the clothing brand Burton of London, which is in receivership and has not found a buyer.

He also took over ready-to-wear brand Paule Ka and was one of a trio of investors, including Stéphane Collard, who bought Chevignon from Vivarte in 2019.
