Baltimore Bridge Collapse: Body of Last Missing Worker Found

He is still officially missing. The body of the latest victim of the Baltimore bridge collapse that killed six people in late March has been found, authorities in the state of Maryland (East Coast of the United States) said Tuesday.

On March 26, the 300-meter-long container ship Dali crashed into a piling of the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore, causing it to collapse. Six workers carrying out road repair work on the bridge when the ship crashed into it are missing. Two more were rescued.

The chapter of the missing is “closed”

The victim, whose body was discovered Tuesday, was identified by authorities as Jose Minor Lopez, a 37-year-old worker from Baltimore, the city’s mayor, Brandon M. Scott, told X. Work to fully reopen the canal will continue “while we close the chapter on this restoration effort,” the elected official said.

The collapse of the bridge led to the blockage of part of the maritime transport in one of the country’s busiest ports. A temporary navigation corridor has been opened for the passage of ships conducting rescue and mine clearance operations.

The US Federal Police (FBI) and the National Transportation Safety Board have launched an investigation into the incident.
