Nine years old and already a hero. Branson Baker, a boy from Oklahoma, saved the lives of his parents. On April 27, as this central United States state faced severe bad weather, Wayne and Lindy Baker and their little Branson were driving down the road in a truck and trying to escape the tornado by seeking shelter. Unfortunately, their car was abandoned and stuck in the trees.
Trapped in the truck with multiple fractures, the parents were seriously injured and could not escape. Nine-year-old Branson was uninjured and took the opportunity to escape from the damaged vehicle. He ran for more than a mile in the dark, climbing over power lines and other debris on the ground to get to a neighbor and friend’s house for help, according to CBS News.
“The only way to find our way back was with lightning lighting the way. He ran as fast as he could, as hard as he could, and covered the mile in ten minutes. That’s pretty impressive for a little kid,” said his uncle Johnny Baker. “The last thing Branson told them was: Mom, dad, please don’t die, I’ll be back. »

Fractures of the back, sternum, neck, jaw…
Branson eventually found enough people to save his parents, who were then taken to the intensive care unit to be hospitalized. The father had a broken back, neck, sternum, ribs, arm and a partially torn off finger, and the mother had a punctured lung and fractures in her back, neck, jaw, ribs and right arm, but their life prognosis is unknown. .
Moved by the story and the heroic act, the Branson baseball team decided to hold a fundraiser during the game. A GoFundMe fundraiser has also been set up to help the young man’s parents overcome the ordeal. As of Wednesday morning, $75,000, or almost 70,000 euros, had been raised.
In total, the tornado, one of dozens that left a trail of destruction across Oklahoma during the last weekend of April, killed at least five people and left many families homeless.
