Boeing 757 lost a wheel before takeoff from Atlanta airport

Boeing never stops getting into trouble. After a door is torn off, a crack is discovered in the cabin or even an engine catches fire, a US aircraft manufacturer just witnessed one of its planes lose a wheel as the plane was preparing to take off.

While the Delta Air Lines Boeing 757 was preparing to take off from Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport in the United States to Bogota, Colombia, “the front wheel came off and rolled downhill,” according to a preliminary incident notice filed by the Boeing 757. Delta Air Lines. The United States Civil Aviation Administration (FAA), responsible for regulations and oversight of civil aviation.

According to this report, none of the 184 passengers and none of the six crew members of the plane were injured. An American airline spokesman said the passengers had been transferred to an alternate flight, according to the New York Times, which published the story Tuesday evening.

The device is 32 years old.

American media also clarify that Boeing refused to comment on the incident and directed its questions to the airline. The FAA told the newspaper it was continuing to investigate the incident.

According to airline and airliner website Airfleets, the aircraft in question is 32 years old, and so the incident may have been caused by a maintenance defect rather than a design defect, unlike some 737 Max.

Boeing is off to a rocky start to 2024 after several incidents on its planes in recent days. Recently, travel search site Kayak offered its less confident users the chance to check out an option that would allow them to avoid the 737 Max.
