Olympic Games 2024: up to 2,500 euro bonuses for metro drivers at RATP

It’s signed. Three months before the Olympics, the RATP majority unions FO and CGT announced on Wednesday evening that they had reached an agreement with management. According to the FO-RATP leaflet, the most mobilized agents in the Metro Transport Services (MTS) department in July, August and September will be able to receive a bonus of up to “2,500 euros.”

To receive this amount, you must not be absent for more than 4 days in the period from July 22 to September 8. After 5 days of absence, the bonus is reduced to 1600 euros. “Exceptional Event” bonuses will also be distributed in different sizes depending on their request during the events: from 740 euros to 1014 euros depending on the number of days of presence.

FO-RATP also welcomes the agreement to carry forward up to 11 days of unused holiday in 2024, which can be carried forward to 2025. The MTS industry agreement also includes an exclusive night bonus and an ‘annual holiday bonus’ for those taking holiday between 15 and 30 September.

Another CGT-RATP press release also lists results obtained for occupations such as switchmen, RER drivers, bus drivers, operations managers or regulators. These agents will also receive 1600 euros, provided they do not miss more than 5 days. Same as GPSR security agents (up to 1770 euros). Non-working professions (secretary, design, teaching) will receive 400 euros for their efforts.

Growing Olympic budget for Ile-de-France Mobilities

The final value of these bonuses will be calculated at the end of the year, just like the bonuses provided to SNCF employees. This total will be added to the overall budget for the increased transport offer during the Games, 15% higher than in a normal summer, to cope with the presence of 10 million Olympic visitors. Île-de-France Mobilités (IDFM), the regional authority that organizes and finances the transport proposal, estimates this Olympic package at 250 million euros instead of the 200 million announced in 2023.

To finance these additional costs, IDFM President Valerie Pecresse (LR) expects that revenues related to the sale of Olympic passes to visitors will circulate between July 20 and September 8. This package costs €16 per day (or €70 for seven days) to cover all 25 sites.

Free transport was promised when Paris bid to host the 2017 Games. But the organizing committee (COJO) ultimately explained that it did not have the necessary budget.
