Unions representing French flight attendants and stewards at Spanish budget airline Vueling, unhappy with negotiations with their management, said on Saturday they were maintaining notice of a strike from May 8 to 12.
SNPNC-FO announced that it filed this notice on April 29 and then indicated that it was awaiting “a gesture from management” to “resume fair negotiations in the overall interest of the life of the company and its employees.” But according to the union, management was unwilling to “set a date for a meeting” and sent employees an email with a “threatening tone.”
The company would also make a financial proposal offering only a temporary increase during the Olympics, the union regrets.
Management Expectations
The organization, which complains of a “steady pace of work with very short rest periods”, “forced flights” of some hostesses and stewards, and the use of “staff on non-French contracts”, says it has been joined by the CGT. .
The notice coincides with the Ascension long weekend.
SNPNC-FO, which has already gone on strike in the spring of 2023 demanding higher wages and better working conditions, leading to the cancellation of dozens of flights, is awaiting “a call or email from management to meet at the negotiating table.”
The company boasts a network of 248 routes, including 42 in France from Orly, Roissy and six other French airports. In 2023, it carried more than 34 million passengers.
Founded in 2004 in Spain and focused on low-cost airlines, Vueling, headquartered in Barcelona, is part of the IAG group along with British Airways and Iberia.
