SVU: Housing Minister mentions strengthening ability to evict families of offenders

The minister responsible for housing, Guillaume Kasbarian, said this Sunday that he is “open” to the idea of changing the law to “strengthen” the ability to evict families of delinquent children from social housing.

“When we open the debate to see who is in the social park in terms of income, in terms of heritage, this question can be asked,” he said on the “Political Questions” program on France Inter, Franceinfo TV and Le Monde. “The question can be put this way: let’s also evaluate incivility, delinquency and crime.”

“Today there are already provisions, since this is not something new,” emphasized Guillaume Kasbarian, who presented on Friday “a bill concerning the development of the supply of affordable housing.”

“What are those holes in the racket?” »

“Should we strengthen them in the bill? “I’m open to it and I think we can do better on this issue,” he added.

“Either the government can make an amendment on this issue, or it can be written by senators or deputies,” he said. “The question is, what are the holes in this racket, how do we write this together to get something that stands up to scrutiny from a legal standpoint.”

“It is not normal that people living in social housing, who live in social housing, are concerned, to put it mildly, by those who do not comply with the laws and commit offenses,” he said.
