Lima, November 17, 2021Updated on 11/17/2021 01:00 pm

The exchange rate fell on Wednesday by Mexico due to the appreciation of the peso after two consecutive sessions of losses, while investors continued to assimilate recent data from the US economy and its impact on the course of monetary policy.

Today the price of the dollar was trading at 20.6719 pesos in the Mexican market, reporting a decline of 0.24% compared to the reference price on Tuesday.

Reuters reported that the Mexican peso accumulated a 1.04% drop in the last two days.

Gabriela Siller, director of economic analysis at local Banco Base, said that the “appreciation of the Mexican peso is the result of a moderate correction after two sessions of depreciation at the beginning of the week.”

The United States said Tuesday that retail sales and industrial activity grew in October above expectations, which some analysts say could encourage the Federal Reserve to accelerate the reduction of its asset purchase program.

On the other hand, the Mexican Stock Exchange (BMV) was trading in the red this Wednesday and with it added its third consecutive day of losses.

The benchmark S & P / BMV IPC index fell 0.80% to 50,752.29 points shortly after the open, Reuters reported.
