Lima, January 11, 2022Updated on 01/11/2022 12:36 pm

The price of the dollar in Mexico was operating this Tuesday with little change compared to the previous close, while the market waited later in the day for a speech by the president of the Federal Reserve, Jerome Powell, and data on inflation from the United States that will be published on Wednesday.

The exchange rate was quoted at 20.3754 Mexican pesos per dollar, down 0.08% compared to 20.3600 in the Reuters reference price on Monday.

Meanwhile, the dollar index, which measures the currency’s performance against a basket of leading currencies, was also relatively stable.

Both Powell’s speech and the data on consumer prices in the United States for December would give clues to investors about the next steps of the Fed in terms of raising interest rates and, in general, about the withdrawal of economic stimulus.

Markets will be on the lookout for comments from Fed members and Powell’s Senate confirmation hearing as central bank chairman for a second term beginning in February.“Banorte said in a report.

Meanwhile, most of the stock markets in the region posted gains despite the fact that the main Wall Street indices, benchmarks of investors, were trading almost flat.
