With the recovery of the aerospace sector, Airbus announces the recruitment of 6,000 people this year

At the start of the year, Guillaume Faury set the trend during the back-to-school press conference of Gifas, the professional body for the aerospace sector: the sector plans to hire nearly 15,000 people in 2022. And Airbus will largely contribute to this since the group announced on Wednesday the launch of a recruitment plan for 6,000 people on all of its sites.

After two years of Covid and a reduction in its workforce while the aviation sector was in the midst of a crisis, the group posted good results, particularly in its aeronautical branch. Its net order book for last year reached 507 aircraft against 268 the previous year. The European aircraft manufacturer also delivered 611 aircraft, up 8% compared to 2020.

A third of young graduates

“Airbus has shown resilience throughout the Covid crisis and laid the foundations for a bold future for sustainable aviation. This can only be done by acquiring the right talents in the different areas of expertise that will help us grow our business as we emerge from the crisis, while preparing for the long-term transformation of the business,” said the director. of the group’s human resources, Thierry Baril.

These 6,000 positions are a first wave and the needs will be reassessed during the year according to the needs. Nearly a quarter of these jobs will “focus on acquiring new skills to support the company’s projects and long-term ambition, particularly in the areas of decarbonization, digital transformation and cybertechnology”. The group predicts that a third of the 6,000 positions will be filled by young graduates.
