Paris 2024 opening ceremony: how the boats are preparing for the big night

He has been at the helm of some major stars for over a quarter of a century. Old Wolf of the Seine, Stefan (name changed) knows the river that crosses the capital like the back of his captain’s jacket. So for him, the opening ceremony on July 26, during which he will transport athletes from an as-yet-unknown delegation with the support of a sailor, is a walk in the park… in front of the entire planet!

“Honestly, it’s not difficult. I might have stage fright on the day of the show, but it’s all good there,” comments the pilot, speaking on condition of anonymity because he has signed a number of confidentiality clauses. His concern is more likely that this unprecedented parade near the stadium will be canceled in favor of the famous “Plan B”. He is preparing for “Plan A”, like his comrades and the shipowners of the fleet of about a hundred boats that will sail between the Austerlitz Bridge and the Jena Bridge.
