Mexico: What is the price of the dollar today, Wednesday, January 19, 2022?

The price of the dollar in Mexico fell this Wednesday, with which it lost part of the ground gained the day before, when it registered its best day since mid-December, due to a rise in the yields of US Treasury bonds, which undermined the attractiveness of risk assets.

The exchange rate was quoted at 20.3490 Mexican pesos per dollar, with a loss of 0.23% compared to the Reuters reference price on Tuesday, when it presented an appreciation of 0.57%.

“The strength of the Mexican currency continues to be surprising, but with the risk that the sentiment could change in the following weeks, which would cause pressures and falls in riskier assets”, CI Banco analysts said in a report.

Participants’ eyes continued to be on the Fed’s first policy meeting of the year next week for clues on the timing of an early start of rate hikes this year.

The Mexican stock market fell slightly in its first trading on Wednesday, extending the losses of the previous day, in a market with an eye on the release of the first corporate reports for the fourth quarter this week.

The leading S&P/BMV IPC index, which groups the 35 most traded stocks in the domestic market, fell 0.10% to 53,181.14 points at 8:38 local time (1438 GMT).

The stock market fell 1.37% the day before, its biggest daily decline since December 20.
