The dollar price in Colombia it was trading higher in the session this Friday, amid a greater aversion to risky assets and a strong advance of the dollar after the statement from the United States Federal Reserve (Fed).

The exchange rate was quoted at 3,990.33 Colombian pesos per dollar, a level 0.68% higher than that of the previous day, according to data from the Reuters agency.

For its part, the benchmark index of the Colombian stock market, the MSCI COLCAP, devalued 0.11% to 1,520.63 points the day before.

The dollar rose yesterday to the highest since July 2020 against its main rivals, buoyed by expectations that the Fed is preparing to implement a faster and longer cycle of interest rate hikes this year.

A day after the Fed said it is ready to raise rates in March to contain inflation, financial markets were moving to price in up to five borrowing cost hikes of 25 basis points each by the end of this year. , indicated Reuters.

In 2021, the US dollar has reached a maximum of 4,033.25 Colombian pesos, while its lowest level has been 3,412.80.
