“Until we meet again”: 10 reasons not to criticize and watch the first Peruvian film on Netflix right now

It’s now available on Netflix,”Until we meet again”, the first Peruvian film created for the streaming platform and one that has generated the most comments before its premiere. While not all of those comments were positive, we at Skip Intro saw the movie, and we think there are more reasons why it’s worth watching before judging.

These are 10 reasons why you will enjoy “Until we meet again”. Cheer up to see it and leave us your comments on our social networks:

1. You will see Cusco as you have never seen it before

Although Cusco has been promoted a lot in the previews of the film, once you see the complete “Until we meet again” you will understand why this beautiful place in our country stands out so much. Although it is true that Cusco is a widely known tourist destination in Peru, there are really very emblematic places in this region (from the San Pedro market to Machu Picchu itself) that you have not seen as you will see in this film.

Impossible not to want to go trekking to see the Humantay lagoon on the route to Salkantay as Salvador (Maxi Iglesias) and Ariana (Stephanie Cayo) do! Or wanting to take a bath in the hot springs in Aguas Calientes! They are really beautiful scenes.

2. They will make you want to travel through Peru

Cusco may be a great protagonist in the story of this film about a Spanish businessman who falls in love with a Peruvian backpacker when he arrives to build a 7-star hotel, but there are other beautiful places that are shown and that leave you wanting to take your suitcase and get to know more about our country.

Two destinations are part of the plot: Puno, which will leave you speechless with its scenes in Los Uros and its beautiful Plaza de Armas and also Ica, whose Paracas National Reserve, which was recently seen for a few seconds in the Hollywood “Don’t Look Up”, deserved the deployment that you will see in “Until we meet again”.

3. And it will also make you hungry

Being Peru a country with an enormous gastronomic tradition, food is also part of this history, but it does not appear in an obvious or forced way. Since we were talking about the scenes in Ica, we recommend you pack a packet of patience cookies to watch this movie and, why not, combine it with a delicious bagged juice, as Ariana and Salvador do before leaving for the Navel of the World.

4. You will know more than one Peruvian tradition

But a scene that will surely remain etched in your memory will be the one starring all the main characters of “Until we meet again” in a celebration in Cusco and in which friends gather around a huatia.

This ancient Peruvian gastronomic tradition has probably never appeared in a romantic comedy, but this film shows that a lot can happen around it.

5. And there is Amiel Cayo!

It is worth mentioning that the beloved actor from Puno, Amiel Cayo, was also a cultural advisor in this film. And through his character, who has a particular name (Uber, we will not ‘spoil’ more details about why), we will learn more about the Andean world.

In addition, unlike the role with which he became known in the award-winning “Altarpiece”, in this film we will see him already far from the drama and in the middle of a happy ending, which was the one we wanted for his character of Noah in the film of Alvaro Delgado Aparicio.

6. You will love the music

Special mention deserves in this film the music that Lucho Quequezana has written for the film. The story of love, separation and reunion of its protagonists and the adventures experienced by the supporting characters would not be the same without the compositions of the well-known Peruvian musician.

But in addition to Quequezana’s creations, with very Peruvian instruments, as is part of his label, we will also find songs by new Peruvian pop talents, such as Adrián Bello. Pay attention to the theme with which the film closes, which you will surely want to add to your ‘playlist’ on Spotify.

7. Especially the Renata Flores scene

And let’s continue talking about music, because with a musical scene is how the story will begin. A classic of the Creole repertoire, “Regresa”, by Augusto Polo Campos, is sung by Stephanie Cayo together with Anaí Padilla and Renata Flores.

The young artist from Ayacucho also sings one of her best-known songs in Quechua. But we will not give you more details of this moment, so that you can see it yourself.

8. You will laugh a lot with Wendy Ramos

Wendy Ramos is one of the great comedians of Peru and this has been demonstrated in her increasingly numerous appearances in the cinema. Impossible to forget her, for example, in the first installment of “Asu Mare”, but her character in “Until we meet again”, Ariana’s aunt and the owner of the hostel and the Arbnb to which Salvador arrives, will surely become be one of your favourites.

The character of Wendy Ramos helps to break moments of tension in some scenes and also takes the scenes to a different rhythm when the romance begins to become very cloying. And the chemistry that she achieved with the Spanish Maxi Iglesias is indisputable.

9. And Stephanie Cayo is not far behind either

Although, before the premiere of “Until we meet again”, the presence of Stephanie Cayo was one of the most criticized on social networks, the truth is that it is very nice to see the actress again in a genre in which has a lot of talent: comedy.

It is enough to remember the comic vein that permeated his roles in the soap operas that earned him fame in his childhood and adolescence in Peru: “Travesuras del corazón” and “Besos robados”. The Peruvian actress allows herself to play with the script and is very funny in the confrontations between Peruvian and Spanish that she has with Maxi Iglesias.

10. And you will not only see “the usual faces”

And, finally, despite what was said on social networks, the cast of “Until we meet again” is very diverse and not only “the usual faces” appear. Pay attention to the scenes of the activist and actor Jaimito Cruz, as well as the activist and actress Javiera Arnillas.

It is also worth highlighting the role of Mayella Lloclla, who explores her comedic vein alongside Rodrigo Palacios and Caterina Gueli Rojo (from the independent “Videofilia”), with whom she makes up a rather unusual threesome in the final part of the story.

Now yes, will you dare to see “Until we meet again”? If you do, do not forget to tell us your impressions on our social networks.
