“The Crown” could be entitled to a prequel on Netflix

Yes The Crown must stop at the end of the sixth season, which must be broadcast next year (the fifth is planned for this year), it is not necessarily the end of the series devoted to the British crown. According to Deadline, Netflix is already in discussions with the producers of the series for a prequel.

No other detail has yet filtered on the project, which will therefore be interested in one or one of the monarchs who preceded Elizabeth II on the throne. Possibly Queen Victoria, according to the publication, since she had reigned the longest until the mother of Prince Charles.

Not yet

Deadline specifies that the discussions are for the moment only at their beginnings and that nothing has been validated by the streaming service. Netflix has obviously not started to communicate on the project at all and is focusing on the last two seasons of its already cult series. The fifth season will see new actors and actresses embody the characters already seen in the previous seasons, as is the case every time The Crown change of era.

Elizabeth Debicki will play Princess Diana, while Imelda Staunton will play Elizabeth II and Dominic West Prince Charles.
