Father of the Bride” (or “The father of the bride” as it was known in Latin America) will have a remake. The comedy that starred the famous Steve Martin in the 90s will be the subject of a new version that will star a completely Latin cast, including the actress of Peruvian origin Elizabeth Merced.


Almost 30 years after the last installment of “The Father of the Bride”, this new version will introduce us to the marriage made up of the characters of Andy García and Gloria Estefan (the same roles that Steve Martin and Diane Keaton previously had) and their family , which includes famous Latin faces such as the Mexican Diego Boneta and the Guatemalan Adria Arjona.

This “Father of the Bride” remake will feature some updates to the story. For example, the couple of Billy (Andy García) and Ingrid (Gloria Estefan) have tried to overcome their relationship problems with a lot of therapy, but the time has come when the word divorce sounds stronger and stronger in their heads, although That will not be an easy decision for an adult woman with Ingrid’s Latin convictions.

On the other hand, the youngest son of the family, who played Kieran Culkin in the 90s film, will be a girl this time. The young actress of Peruvian origin Isabela Merced, who has anticipated that her character will be queer. Another difference lies in the marriage proposal that motivates the title of the film. This time it will be her (Sofía, Adria Arjona’s character) who will ask Adán (Diego Boneta) for her hand.
