“Blonde”: Ana de Armas dazzles as Marilyn Monroe in the first preview of the Netflix film

Anne of Arms is Marilyn Monroe in the first trailer for “Blonde,” a fictionalized version of the life of the Hollywood diva directed by Andrew Dominik (“Killing Them Softly”) and based on the novel of the same name by Joyce Carol Oates.

The minute-long trailer gives us a taste of what to expect when the film hits the streaming service on September 23: a combination of black-and-white as well as color scenes accompanied by an evocative version of the song. “Diamonds Are a Girls’s Best Friend” – one of Monroe’s most famous songs – showing the contrast between the star’s troubled personal life and her glamorous outward appearance.

The film stands out for its rating of NC-17 (adults only) by the Motion Picture Association in the United States, a restriction that Netflix projects tend to avoid when seeking to maximize their audiences. In this regard, the director Andrew Dominik asked not to pay attention to this ‘rating’: “I seem to get into these situations where people find me provocative, but that’s never what I try to do.”, he explained to The Hollywood Reporter. “I’m just trying to say it as clearly as possible. My ambition is to make them fall in love with Marilyn”.

In addition to Ana de Armas, the film stars Adrien Brody, Bobby Cannavale, Evan Williams, Julianne Nicholson, Xavier Samuel, Scoot McNairy, Garret Dillahunt and Lucy Devito.
