Hailey Bieber is sued over the name of her new cosmetics brand

Hailey Bieber is being sued for using the name of her new cosmetics brand. Indeed, the influencer chose to use her middle name, Rhode, to baptize her skincare line, even though this term is already used by a brand registered in New York and positioned in a fashion and lifestyle segment. .

Founded in 2014 by Purna Khatau and Phoebe Vickers, the company has seen its clothes worn by celebrities such as Beyoncé and Lupita Nyong’o. For the two founders of the company, it is clear that the two “brands cannot coexist without creating confusion”.

This is why they intend to go to trial in order to force Hailey Bieber to change the name of her brand, on the understanding that her celebrity will allow her to meet with success with any name.

A decade of work

Finally, they ask that their legal costs be reimbursed by the star as stipulated in the legal documents obtained by Entertainment Tonight.

“Nine years ago, we left our jobs to found Rhode in our apartment, creating a fashion company from scratch. We are two female entrepreneurs who met in college, created the RHODE brand, and spent years working for our company,” Purna Khatau and Phoebe Vickers wrote in a statement posted on their brand’s Instagram account.

“Today we were forced to file a lawsuit against Hailey Bieber and her new skincare line launched last week using the ‘rhode’ brand. We didn’t want to file this complaint, but we had to in order to protect our case. »
