“Panic spreads”, Chobi’s new single that comes with a video inspired by 80’s slasher films

Chobi just released “Panic Ridden”, song that is inspired by what he experienced during the pandemic. This is the third single in which the Peruvian artist explores what forced confinement caused him and describes in great detail what was going through his mind.

Chobi’s first single released was “teen fantasy”, which, although it seems to move away a bit from the theme due to its melancholy, was also colored by the context. He followed “The day that could never end”, which from the title expresses how life became a ‘loop’ from the end of March 2021 until not long ago. The artist explains:

Those last two have to do with the intense anxiety I felt during the pandemic. ‘The day that could never end’ talks about the worst three months, when every day I woke up with anxiety and the first thing I did was take my pulse. He repeated it all day, every day. All the time I thought that I was going to die at any moment”.

“Panic spread” it marks the end of anxiety, although not in the best way because first you have to go through the storm. “It’s basically about having a panic attack.”, adds the musician.

Chobi says that his music project was aiming for a post-punk sound. The result, in effect, has something of rock and indie. “From the beginning I wanted to use synthesizers that emulate guitars, but then I flowed. In any case, these three songs follow the same line because they use the same synthesizer, even to do the bass”, says the author.

And he adds: “The voices also have their own style that is sometimes difficult to achieve. I think that the common thread of all my singles also passes through there”.

The post production of “Panic spread” was in charge of Juanjo Salazar (Saint Wood, Pai Lagoon).

The theme also has a video clip inspired by the slasher movies of the 80s. Chobi recorded it together with the audiovisual production company petite and the locations were chosen Guadalupe Association and, for the exteriors, Chaclacayo.

For now, the Peruvian musician plans to release his EP between the end of November and the beginning of December.
