Facebook clears accounts of trolls who attacked Lizzo after “Rumors” released

Facebook took the initiative to delete the accounts of the trolls who attacked Lizzo. Last friday came out Rumors, his duet with Cardi B and whose lyrics are addressed to the “haters”. And while the title should punctuate this end of summer for many fans of the singer, a myriad of trolls have targeted her, multiplying racist and grossophobic attacks on the networks.

The next day, the singer cracked, posting a long video message full of emotion on Instagram Live. “No matter how much positive energy you put out into the world, there will always be people who have something bad to say about you,” she lamented, tears in her eyes.

Better than nothing

A cry of distress which would therefore have been heard by the social network which, according to TMZ, would have started by removing the comments on Lizzo’s Facebook and Instagram pages that violate their policy on hate speech and harassment. Subsequently, the accounts of some of the authors of these comments would have simply been deleted.

An initiative which, even if it does not solve the problem, should give Lizzo a certain sense of justice. It is also useful to remember that, in France, cyberstalking is an offense, punishable by three years in prison and up to 45,000 euros in fines.
