“Almost Don Quixote”: a family comedy that brings us closer to the literary classic

“Almost Don Quixote” returns to the theater for a fourth season with a renewed cast that will present this musical comedy inspired by the novel Don Quijote of La Mancha by Miguel Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra. The season will begin on February 14, on Saturdays and Sundays at 4:00 pm at the Paya Casa de Barranco.

The story, divided into two parts, follows a group of young people, made up of Roni Ramírez, Joamoc More, Atria Fiol, Julián Reyes and Úrsula Palomino, who try to stage their own version of the classic play after being rejected from a casting. . The public will be able to observe the effort involved in carrying out the rehearsals, the creation of each role and the use of the objects on stage.

In the second part, with the script memorized, the characters will go on stage to interpret the adventures of the gentleman of the sad figure next to his friend Sancho Panza, in a musical that promises to amuse adults and children from the age of three.

“Making theater for the family is a great responsibility. For many years we have been researching a language where fathers and mothers also have an incredible time, as well as children. We really believe that performing this art is filigree work, that is why we rehearse every detail to the millimeter, taking care of what will be seen, what will be heard and mainly the sensations that everyone can take with them in the theatrical experience”. comments Paloma Reyes, director of the show.

The performance is a love letter to the theater that seeks to convey a message of hope to all attendees. “We have been training artists at the Gestus school for a long time and the story of the play speaks of that: giving talented people an opportunity who dream of doing theater and thus fostering their brilliance”, it states.

This would be the fourth time that the show has been revived, after being released for the first time in May 2017. And despite the fact that the script is maintained, the new actors have given it new nuances to renew it and adapt it to their abilities. “This play has already had three beautiful seasons, with the actors who were also its creators (Manuel Gold, César Garcia, Fiorella Kollmann, Lizet Chávez and Francisco Luna) and today we open the door for the new cast with all the joy of delivering a text full of love for theater so that everyone can learn and grow”, ends Reyes.
