Through a ceremony held this Tuesday, January 24, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences revealed the official list of nominees in the 23 categories of the 95th edition of the Oscars. One of the big surprises for this event, which will hold its main gala next Sunday, March 12, is the nomination of productions made by the streaming giant Netflix in 16 categories.
The film “All Quiet on the Western Front”, directed by Edgar Berger for Netflix, is the second most nominated film when competing in nine important categories that include Best Picture, Best Foreign Film, Best Original Score and Best Adapted Screenplay, among others. . The film trailed behind “Everything Everywhere All at Once” which has 11 nominations.

The streaming giant also surprises with the nomination of the Cuban-Spanish actress Ana de Armas, who played the iconic Marilyn Monroe in the movie “Blonde.” This tape, directed by Andrew Dominik, was an adaptation of the homonymous novel written by Joyce Carol Oates in the year 2000.
There is also the appearance of the stop-motion film “Pinocchio” by Guillermo del Toro among the nominees for Best Animated Film. In the same category, “The Sea Beast” is located, another Netflix original production.
