Lucasfilm and Disney released this April 7 a new trailer for “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny” (“Indiana Jones and the dial of destiny” in Spanish) that shows the famous archaeologist played by Harrison Ford back to his adventures.
It was previously known that the new film, set in 1969 during the space race between the United States and the Soviet Union, would see the octogenarian archaeologist on the verge of retirement before being called on one last adventure in search of the dial of destiny, an artifact with the ability to change history which is also sought after by the Nazis.
The new trailer highlights how Indy’s goddaughter Helena Shaw, a character played by Phoebe Waller-Bridge (“Fleabag”) is the engine of the adventure, being the one interested in finding the artifact in honor of her father.
The trailer also gave us a deeper look at Mads Mikkelsen as Jürgen Voller, the ex-Nazi now working for NASA whose previous affiliations resurface during the events of the adventure.
Also participating in the adventure are Antonio Banderas, Boyd Holbrook, Shaunette Renée Wilson and Toby Jones, while John Rhys-Davies returns to the franchise as Sallah, Indiana Jones’s adventure partner in previous films.
Regrets and the search to make up for mistakes seem to be the central theme of the film, something obvious considering that what they are after is a device with the apparent ability to change the past, but before that the film is shown as a celebration of the story of Indiana Jones (and Harrison Ford) in what has already been announced to be their last film adventure.
The film will have its premiere on May 18 at the Cannes Film Festival before reaching Peruvian theaters on June 29.
