Argentine writer and diplomat Abel Posse dies at 89

Academic number of the Argentine Academy of Letters and corresponding member of the Royal Spanish Academy, Posse was Plenipotentiary Minister of Argentina in Israel (1985-1988), as well as ambassador to the former Czechoslovakia (1990-1992), Peru (1998-2000 ), Denmark (2000-2002) and Spain (2000-2004).

He was also the permanent delegate of his country to the Unesco andn 2002.

During the management of Mauricio Macri As head of the Government of the City of Buenos Aires (2007-2015), he was offered by the local Ministry of Education, a position he held for only 11 days in December 2009, due to the criticism that this appointment received.

Abel Posseborn in Córdoba on January 7, 1934, was a lawyer and doctor in Political Science and since 1966 he developed an intense life as a diplomat in different positions and countries.

In 1969 he wrote his first novel, “Los bogavantes”, after which thirteen more would come, among which the four that make up the “Tetralogy of Conquest” stand out, whose protagonist is the conqueror Lope de Aguirre, ‘El Tirano’ (1510-1561).

He was internationally recognized for his ability to fictionalize the Argentine history of the 1970s, marked by political violence, a theme in which his works “Momento de morir” (1979) and “Noche de lobos” (2011) are framed. ).

Among his writings, “La pasión según Eva” (1994), about Eva Perón, and “When the son dies” (2010), a terrible story about the suicide of his offspring, in 1983, when he was 15 years old, also stand out.

In addition to various awards and recognitions, his work has been translated into 16 languages ​​and he has written chronicles for various national and international media.
