Francisca Aronsson present at the Platino Awards: “Where is all the Peruvian talent?”

As part of the Ibero-American star-system, the Peruvian actress Francisca Aronsson paraded down the red carpet of the great night of the 2023 Platino Awards. In dialogue with El Comercio, she said she felt a great responsibility for being the only Peruvian to be present at this edition.

─Your youth always stands out. How does it feel to be 16 years old and to be at an event like this? Is there extra pressure?

The good thing about being 16 and being at the Latino Awards, where I think I’m the only minor, is that I can have fun. But there is always a responsibility, because they told me that I am the only representative of Peru, which leads me to wonder: Where is all the Peruvian talent that also has to be present here?

─How to make more Peruvians have a presence abroad like you? What advice would you give them?

There are many factors in the Peruvian industry that do not allow the actors to have this visibility. I think it’s important that they start casting abroad, betting and investing because this is a career where you have to invest a lot in yourself. Unfortunately, the Peruvian actor is very afraid, he prefers to stay in his comfort zone. The advice he could give them is to go out without fear. Because if you don’t try, nothing will ever happen.

─Besides, your internationalization does not mean that you do not want to work in Peru, but to promote what you do there.

Completely. I work in Spain, now I’m in Mexico wanting to get to know different industries and learn from them. What I like is acting wherever it is. Just because I’m not in Peru, doesn’t mean I don’t want to come back. I want to do it but with projects that really challenge me, that are unique.

─Did you see any nominated series or movie that you liked?

Well, best wishes really to all the projects. The most important thing is not winning but the fact that they take your work into account. That is a great achievement, there you already won.
